Put Some Spring in Your Step!
The birds are chirping, the bees are buzzing, the flowers are blooming, and the Cadbury Eggs are tempting shoppers at checkout lanes everywhere. These clues can only mean one thing: Spring has sprung! It’s not too hot and not too cold. It’s just right – for lacing up your sneaks and enjoying the great outdoors whilst nearing your daily steps goal.
Variety is the spice of life and the key to sticking with a fitness routine. Actually, don’t think of your springtime walk/run/jog sessions as a “fitness routine.” That sounds like something to dread rather than look forward to. Think of your pavement-pounding time an opportunity to explore your city. You could walk around your block 15 times to get in your steps. Or, you could:
- Take Rover to the local dog park,
- Stroll around a botanical garden,
- Sign up for a fun run (spring is prime 5K time),
- Follow a hiking trail until it ends, or
- Do laps around a zoo or wildlife sanctuary.
Exercise does not require that you wear Lululemon or get all sweaty. You can if you want, but you don’t have to. You’ve just got get up, put one foot in front of the other, and repeat – it all counts! Once the Cadbury eggs disappear, the sunscreen will appear. Sunscreen, sun, shorts, swimsuits… so get moving!
